"The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to hold a spectacular airshow at Marina Beach in Chennai on October 6, celebrating its 92nd anniversary on October 8. This thrilling event will display 72 types of aircraft, such as Rafale, SU-30, MIGs, Jaguar, and Tejas, along with the renowned aerobatic teams, Surya Kiran and Sarang helicopters.
Event Details: The grand airshow will run for two hours, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Spectators can enjoy the show along the stretch of Marina Beach between the Light House and Anna Square, with the best view from the shore opposite Vivekananda House.
Preparations: To prepare for the event, the IAF conducted three rehearsals at Marina Beach on October 1, 2, and 4, involving around 70 aircraft. The final rehearsal took place on October 4.
Viewing Options: Entry to the airshow is free for all attendees. Those unable to attend can watch the live stream on Doordarshan National and Doordarshan Tamil’s official YouTube channels.
Traffic Advisory: The Greater Chennai Traffic Police advises using Metro Rail and MRTS services to avoid road congestion and recommends arriving early for the best viewing experience.
Record Attempt: This year's airshow aims to enter the Limca Book of Records by gathering over 1.5 million spectators, surpassing the 1.3 million who attended the previous show in 2003.
Show Highlights: The event will showcase a colorful display of operational and vintage fighter jets, transport aircraft, and helicopters, highlighting the strength of the IAF, which ranks as the fourth largest air force globally. The participating aircraft will come from various air bases, including Tambaram, Arakkonam, Thanjavur, and Sulur.
Upcoming Parade: On October 8, a brief flypast and parade will occur at Air Force Station Tambaram from 7:45 a.m. to 9 a.m., but public entry will not be allowed."
